Bryan Gil has all but confirmed that he will be leaving Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season, stating that he and the club agreed it is the right course to take.

The winger was forced to undergo surgery on his right knee in March, bringing an end to his time at Girona, where he was on loan, prematurely.

The Spanish club does hold a €15m purchase option that can be exercised before June 30 – but they reportedly feel, with one year left on his Spurs deal, a lower price than stipulated in the purchase option could be agreed upon.

Speaking with the channel ‘El After de Post United’, in words picked up by Estadio Deportivo, the Spaniard spoke about his ambitions for the summer, saying that his time at Tottenham is basically up.

“I haven’t given it much thought because I’m focused on recovering as best as possible and being back. That’s something my agent will tell me where things are going, but they told me, and I told them, that the best thing is for us not to continue being linked to Tottenham, but there’s no problem or bad feeling, quite the opposite.

He continued: “They bet on me when I was young, and they’ve treated me fairly well, but if I have to go back there, I’ll focus on giving my best as always.

“I’m calm because no one can have a bad word to say about me not being professional, without playing. I’ve always trained well, I’ve done what I had to do, so whatever has to happen, will happen. We’ll see where we are next year.”
