Newcastle United are again evaluating AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw, who is being linked with a move away from the Italian side.
Thiaw made 31 appearances in all competitions for AC Milan last season, but the 23-year-old’s involvement dropped towards the end of the season.
Still, it was an improvement on the 23/24 season, in which Thiaw picked up a hamstring injury, keeping him out of action for two months.
Covered by Milan News, Matteo Moretto has spoken about Thiaw’s transfer situation and links to Como and Newcastle United.
Newcastle are keeping an eye on Thiaw as they are looking for a central defender for next season, but they’re certainly not rushing forward for a transfer at this stage.
Moretto is quoted as saying: “Last year Newcastle were looking for Thiaw and today Newcastle are still looking for a central defender. So keep an eye on this path, at the moment there is nothing concrete, but I can confirm that Newcastle are also evaluating Thiaw, who, in addition to returning to Germany, would be interested in an experience in the Premier League.”
Thiaw’s agency Unique Sports Group also represents Newcastle United players Anthony Gordon and Lewis Miley, so there’s a relationship already in place with the Magpies.
The defender’s contract expires in June 2027.
