While there was a brief moment where it seemed Fenerbahçe could make a move for Arsenal’s Jorginho, his agent quickly made it clear the Italy international wasn’t going anywhere.
Despite Mikel Arteta hardly using him in the first few games of the season, the midfielder is reportedly determined to turn that around, and he will have time to show his manager first hand what he can do in training since he was not called up by Luciano Spalletti for Italy.
There are some, such as market lawyer Claudio Pasqualin, speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, who believe it could be hard for the Arsenal player to make it back into his country’s first-team, at least as long as the former Napoli man is in charge.
He said: “In Spalletti’s vision of the game, you need more dynamic plays. With different characteristics to Jorginho’s, which are particular.”
However, there is one man who firmly believes that the Arsenal midfielder can make his way back into national team contention, and that’s his agent João Santos, who spoke to Kiss Kiss Napoli, relayed by Tutto Napoli.
He was asked how Jorginho felt about being left out, and replied: “Jorginho’s characteristics are unique and needed by every team in the world. When the manager needs that, he will call Jorge.”
Then came the inevitable questions about a potential return to Italy for the Arsenal man, which is a subject that pops up every time the agent speaks.
He added: “Italy is always in our hearts. Never say never. If there’s an Italian team that needs Jorge and his characteristics, we’ll see what happens.”
