Ian Poveda hasn’t made a senior appearance for Sunderland this season, limited to two matches with their U21 side.

The Black Cats signed Poveda on a free transfer in July 2024, and he played 185 minutes from eight matches in his debut season.

AS in Colombia have a report on the Sunderland man, titled: ‘The Mystery of Ian Poveda’.

Within the report, they take a look at his current situation at the Stadium of Light. And events that took place since last summer.

Sunderland last had a post on the England-born Colombia international on August 22nd. This was after he scored a brace in 3-2 win over Southampton U21. At this point in time, it’s not known whether the winger is sidelined with an injury.

AS say Régis Le Bris informed the 25-year-old that he’s not part of his core plans at Sunderland this season. He was asked to look for a new club but failed to secure a move.

There’s ‘no sign of the player’ at Sunderland and AS say this is a ‘mystery that remains unanswered’. Poveda has a contract until 2027, but he could leave Le Bris’ side in January.

The Colombian outlet appear worried about him and the mystery around his situation at Sunderland.
