The transfer window may have just closed, but it seems Manchester City are already doing some work ahead of their new signings for the next year.
According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Pep Guardiola’s side were one of the clubs who had scouts at the match between Gil Vicente and Porto.
It isn’t yet clear who the Manchester City scouts could have been scouting, and even though the match wasn’t held at the Estádio do Dragão, that still drew the attention of clubs from Spain, France and England.
Porto managed to find a 2-0 win away from home, and several players on the pitch had their performances highlighted by the Portuguese media.
The man of the match was Mehdi Tahremi, who was crucial for the Dragons to find their two goals.
Defender Diogo Costa and midfielder Stephen Eustaqui also had a great match and certainly will have warranted some notes being taken by the scouts.
With Manchester City getting more and more attentive to Portuguese football, it isn’t surprising that they’re doing this kind of job this early in the season, as they continue to try and stay ahead of their rivals on the transfer market.
