Manchester City were continually linked with a move for Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso in the winter transfer window.

The Citizens never made an official offer for the Italian, with a report suggesting this week that they will come forward for the full-back in the summer.

It now seems as if Cambiaso was not the only Juventus player Manchester City were interested in.

Corriere dello Sport, as relayed by IlBianconero, have reported that the player in question was Manuel Locatelli.

The outlet are confident that Manchester City ‘sounded out’ the 27-year-old and were quite keen on the move, as they saw the Italy international as a replacement for Rodri.

Juventus were not interested in a sale and despite Pep Guardiola’s liking for Locatelli, the Bianconeri deemed him ‘unsellable’.

After that, Manchester City moved on to sign Porto’s Nico Gonzalez, who has joined for a fee of £50m.

Locatelli has been key to Juventus’ season so far, having played 30 times in all competitions and has played over 1600 minutes in Serie A. He’s shown an ability to conduct play from deep.

Considering that, the ex-AC Milan man could have been a major signing for Manchester City.
