Wolves are having a Premier League season they’ll want to quickly forget.

After a serious battle against relegation, they’re now nine points away from the relegation zone, finding themselves 17th in the table under Vitor Pereira.

Wolves are now said to be looking at the possibility of sacking the Portuguese coach, with Gazzetta dello Sport today reporting they have interest in former AS Roma manager Daniele De Rossi.

Some days ago, the former midfielder had made it clear in an interview that he would be interested in a move to the Premier League.

The report from the Italian newspaper states the Roma legend has ‘spoken more than once’ with Wolves in recent days.

Wolves are said to be unhappy with the job Pereira has done and have used intermediaries to seek out a move for De Rossi.

The report feels like an attempt to put the Italian’s name forward and create a buzz around his availability, especially after his comments about a potential move to England. De Rossi knows near-perfect English, wants a Premier League, and it would feel more like his camp targeting Wolves rather than the reverse.

Subsequently, what is presented as Wolves’ stance on Vitor Pereira should also be seen in that light.
