On Tuesday, we relayed news from Italy that Inter Milan remain optimistic about agreeing a deal with Manchester United for André Onana’s transfer in the summer window.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Erik ten Hag’s side have made a ‘verbal offer’ of €45m for the goalkeeper while Inter continue to demand €60m.
Wednesday’s Gazzetta dello Sport states the Serie A side have decided to sacrifice the 27-year-old in order to sign a new midfielder and a striker.
Onana and Ten Hag have already had a private discussion on how he’ll fit in at the English club. The report adds Manchester United’s ‘wait-and-see attitude’ towards the stopper ‘seems definitely over’.
It’s claimed the ‘official offer’ from the Red Devils should arrive at Inter this morning and that would help the Cameroonian get closer to Old Trafford. The first proposal should be around €40m plus €5m bonuses, which doesn’t meet the Nerazzurri’s request of €60m.
Gazzetta state this is expected to be the ‘formal step’ from Manchester United to kick start negotiations for the former Ajax man. The report suggests the deal is expected to be accelerated after the ‘official offer’ is tabled.
That’s been repeated several times in recent weeks and the report again points out that Inter are ready to sell Onana if they are to receive €50m, likely as a fixed fee.
