Wolverhampton Wanderers have made initial moves to try and sign Real Betis star Johnny Cardoso this summer.

That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who say that ‘Wolves are on the prowl’ for the 23-year-old, potentially rivalling Atlético Madrid for his signature.

They explain that Betis and Atlético have intensified their contacts over the American midfielder in the last few hours, including face-to-fae meetings, in the hope of finalising a deal for Cardoso.

The various parties are working to find an agreement that suits everyone, with Betis determined to get a good price for one of their star men. They’re currently €15m apart, though, as Betis want €40m and Atlético have offered €25m. The Atlético offer did include other variables to increase this though.

While negotiations are ongoing, Wolves have tried to insert themselves into the matter. They’ve contacted Betis to inquire about the terms of the deal.

Betis know the American midfielder has suitors across Europe, Napoli have also asked about him, and they may use this to their advantage in negotiations with Atlético.

For now, the player wants Betist to negotiate with Atlético and isn’t interested in the likes of Wolves or anyone else, but that’s not stopped them from asking questions about him.
