Lucas Digne is expected to be named in the France squad again today, as he again becomes a regular choice for Didier Deschamps.
The left-back returned to his national side in September after more than two years away. He’s been speaking to Foot Mercato about his career and everything which has brought him to this point.
That’s when Everton got a positive mention.
Speaking to Foot Mercato, Digne said he feels he’s playing the best football of his career, and is happy in his profession and also with his life off the pitch. His Aston Villa contract expires in June 2026 and it’s explained he’s not concerning himself with that right now.
Foot Mercato quote the 31-year-old as saying: “I also wanted to play every game and have more responsibility in my team, so I told Barça that I wanted to move on, even if it was difficult.
“Everton gave me the opportunity to get this responsibility in the team and to experience the best league in the world with incredible fans. It’s a historic club and I share great moments with them.”
Everton supporters have long been fond of the Frenchman and his latest comments will help to cement his status a little more. A return to the club, though, feels unlikely at this stage of his career.
