Earlier today we covered a report from Portuguese newspaper O Jogo which talked up the prospect of Liverpool making an offer for Goncalo Inacio.

It was explained that the player’s agent Miguel Pinho was in England after negotiating the final details of Bruno Fernandes’ Manchester United extension and would be having a meeting with Arne Slot’s side regarding the Sporting defender.

That’s maybe where O Jogo got a little carried away, saying Liverpool were expected to make a proposal. Perhaps rather than expected they mean desired, and Thursday’s edition of A Bola makes that clearer.

They also have a report on Inacio and Liverpool – and it’s clear this must all be coming from the player’s camp – but they’re a lot calmer.

There’s an insistence Liverpool have real interest in Inacio, although it’s made clear these will just be ‘initial conversations’ with Pinho, so the likelihood of an offer being presented immediately isn’t so high.

O Jogo has=d said that despite having a €60m release clause, Inacio could be sold for around €45m, whereas A Bola suggest Sporting will stick to the €60m.

On that specific point, O Jogo are likelier to be correct unless this gets into the final week of the window and it’s too difficult to source a replacement.
