Marseille forward Igor Paixão is a target for Leeds United, who are exploring a possible deal for the Brazilian winger.
Foot Mercato report that Leeds are exploring the possibility of a deal for the 26-year-old old winger this summer.
Leeds United want forward options
The website explains that Leeds want to strengthen their forward options in the coming weeks as they look to improve on a 14th placed finish last season.
Leeds’ management are considering several profiles but are looking specifically at Ligue 1 for the right fit. Igor Paixão is currently the name sitting in third on their shortlist. Journalist Santi Aouna reports that conversations have taken place with his entourage.
They are not currently pushing for a deal for the winger, but he is certainly a nae that is being monitored by those in charge at Elland road. The main obstacle to a potential deal remains the valuation placed on him by Marseille.
They are demanding a €50m fee for the Feyenoord winger. They paid €30m to sign him from Feyenoord in August last year.
Valuation at €30-35m
That figure is significantly higher than Leeds United’s estimations. They value Paixão between €30-35m at this moment in time.
It means there is a is a €15-20m gap between the two sides. That is a significant gap which would need serious negotiations to close.
It is also perhaps why Leeds are not making him a priority target right now. There is plenty of time for that to change, of course.
Igor Paixão is a long-term target for those in charge at Elland Road, though. Indeed, they battled Marseille for much of last summer to get him in that window.
Now it seems they are considering reviving that interest as they seek a forward addition this summer. But there is a major gap between their valuation and Marseille’s at this moment in time. Unless there is movement on that front, it feels unlikely that this one will progress.
