Torino have their eye on Southampton centre-back Armel Bella-Kotchap as they look to strengthen their squad this summer.

That’s according to Tuttosport, who report that the Italian club are starting to set themselves up ahead of the summer transfer window.

The newspaper explains the club are looking for a defender but one who is a ‘young profile’ who can be deployed without any concerns when the side needs him.

The Southampton defender is one idea currently being explored despite a disappointing few years in which he’s failed to kick on with the Saints or on various loans deals away.

His first positive year in the Premier League is still remembered well and Torino might be willing to take a gamble on him.

They know Southampton tried to sell him last summer with little success and the player was out of their plans before Ivan Juric arrived as manager. The inclination is that they feel there is a deal there to be done for him this summer.

Juric could certainly help his old side and provide some references on the defender, who he worked closely with for months at Southampton before their relegation and his eventual departure.

For now, it seems the defender is nothing more than an idea, but he’s a name to keep an eye on, nonetheless.
