An update from Italy brings news of the impending exit of Pervis Estupiñán, as the Brighton left-back edges closer to a move to Serie A.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Luca Bianchin, negotiations between Brighton & Hove Albion and AC Milan have advanced significantly and are now in the final stages. “The two clubs are very close, only the final handshakes are missing, but the last phase is underway,” he reported.

Estupiñán, who is 27 years old and has previously played for Villarreal, is expected to become Milan’s new starting left-back, filling the role left vacant by Theo Hernandez’s move to Al Hilal. The Ecuadorian is said to be keen on the move, and personal terms are already agreed.

Bianchin claims that Milan and Brighton are expected to finalise a deal worth around £15.2m (€18m), plus performance-related bonuses. The defender has reportedly agreed a four-year contract worth £2.1m (€2.5m) per season.

Speaking at a press conference in Singapore, Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri confirmed the club is working closely with the board to strengthen the squad. “There is total synergy with the club, who are working to ensure the team is ready to be competitive for the league, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa,” he said.

The transfer may now come down to the final details, with Milan hopeful of sealing Estupiñán’s arrival soon.
