Earlier today we covered a report from Germany which stated Bayer Leverkusen had set a deadline over Granit Xhaka potentially moving to Sunderland this summer.

The message was that a decision would be made this week, with the implication that if Sunderland hadn’t made an offer to satisfy the Bundesliga club before the end of the week then the transfer wouldn’t be happening.

Bayer Leverkusen director Simon Rolfes went public with the stance, and it appears to have jolted the Premier League club into action.

Swiss newspaper Blick reports that, according to their own information – so independent of any other reports, Xhaka is on his way to Sunderland. Blick, the biggest selling newspaper in Switzerland, puts the transfer fee at €15m plus a potential further €5m in bonus payments.

Granit Xhaka will be signing a three year contract with Sunderland.

Some other reports are putting the fee as a flat €20m, but Blick really don’t have any reason to report it as lower than it actually is, whereas German reports will obviously favour Bayer Leverkusen.
