AC Milan are growing confident that they can sign Pervis Estupiñán from Brighton and Hove Albion this summer.
That’s according to Gianluca di Marzio, who reports that super-agent Jorge Mendes is working on the deal for the Italian side and trying to lower Brighton’s demands.
He reports that confidence has grown in the last few hours at Milan that a deal can be finalised with Brighton for the Ecuadorian full-back.
They see him as an ideal replacement for Theo Hernandez, and they are working with Mendes, who represents the 27-year-old, to get a deal done. They want to lower Brighton’s demands and banking heavily on Estupiñán’s interest to help them do that. He’s already made it clear he wants to play for Milan.
Contacts between the two clubs are continuing at a steady pace and the gap between them is narrowing accordingly. Di Marzio makes no mention of the figures involved as yet.
But he does say Milan are keen to accelerate their efforts so that they can provide Max Allegri with a qualify and reliable addition following Hernandez’s departure.
They believe Estupiñán is ready to push for the move and, perhaps push Brighton to accept a lower deal also.
