Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs to have been credited with interest in signing Feyenoord star Santiago Giménez this summer.
Earlier this week, Fox Sports in Mexico reported both the striker and his camp are aware of the interest shown by Tottenham and a few other clubs.
He’s represented by his father Christian, and Mariel Duhaye. It was also stated they will soon make trips to England, Italy and Spain to hold talks with Tottenham and other suitors over a possible deal.
The Mexico international has been speaking to Rijnmond, where he has partly backed up Fox Sports’ report. His comments are relayed by Voetbal Primeur, who mention Spurs, Napoli and Real Madrid as his interested parties.
According to Giménez, there isn’t anything concrete so far for him to leave the Dutch club in this window.
“There is interest from other clubs, but nothing serious, no offer or anything like that. So, I focus on the here and now,” he said.
The 23-year-old left the door open to leave the Eredivisie side if Tottenham or another club were to make a firm approach to sign him. At the same time, the player insists that he will give his best for Feyenoord until his last day at the club.
“If there is an opportunity which compares to Feyenoord, then I have to look at it. After that, we’ll see. I’m an ambitious person, but I’m still here and I have a contract. I’ll do my best for the club until the last day I’m here,” Giménez explained.
“The only one who knows whether I am ready for the next step or not is God. He determines my future and whether I am ready for it. I have told Dennis [te Kloese] and Brian [Priske] that they do not have to worry about my focus.”
The Mexican managed 26 goals and eight assists from 41 games for the Dutch club last season.
