Following Burnley’s promotion to the Premier League, the Brazilian media has been giving a lot of attention to Vitinho, who was part of the Clarets’ great campaign in the Championship.
Today, it’s ESPN Brasil who features an interview with the 23-year-old, highlighting what is to come for him in his next season in England.
Vitinho claims to be quite excited about featuring in the Premier League with Burnley, saying he wants to enjoy being in the top flight.
“I want to prepare well for the start of the Premier League, with a good mind, physically well. And when we get there, as we say in English, ‘enjoy’.”
“We deserve it, we went through many moments here at the Championship. Now it’s time to get to the Premier League, work and enjoy the moment in the best championship in the world.”
The Brazilian was also asked about the possibility of having a place at the national team, and claims to be completely focused on his work at Burnley, not giving attention to anything else at this time.
“First I have to focus here at Burnley, have a good pre-season, a good start to the Premier League. According to work, with my day to day, the national team will arrive at one time or another. I’ve been through the youth ranks. It’s a dream, a goal.”
“But today I think about Burnley, about doing my job here. I have no doubt that as a consequence of the work I will have an opportunity in the Brazilian national team.”
That’s probably great news for Burnley, because recent reports from Brazil have been claiming that following his campaign in the Championship, Vitinho had actually been drawing interest from Premier League sides.
The Clarets could obviously accept a good offer for him, but seeing him this happy at the club, that may be a sign that he won’t be one to force an exit anytime soon.
