Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo was this week interviewed by Ecuadorian journalist Maria José Flores.
During the chat he was asked about his future in English football, in a question which mentioned the recent links to Chelsea.
Caicedo admitted he’s flattered after being surrounded by transfer rumours lately. Despite showing respect for Brighton, he couldn’t hide how excited he would be to make a bigger move. The quotes come from El Universo.
“There’s a very important emotion, because what youngster would not like that many clubs are talking about him? It’s something that I know how to handle very well, that I do not get carried away by emotions, that I try to be calm, enjoying with my family, which is the most important thing now. I know that it is also pressure, let’s say, but I am calm, I am waiting for what God decides, because he knows what is best for me,” said Moises Caicedo.
Regarding a move to Chelsea, Caicedo admitted he couldn’t turn down such an opportunity.
“It is a great team, a historic team. I can’t say no because it is a very big, historic, very beautiful team, the city is also very beautiful.”
In the past year, Caicedo became one of the big personalities raising the bar in Ecuadorian football, with the local media very proud of the generation they’ve been raising.
Brighton only paid €5m to sign the midfielder from Independiente Del Valle in 2021. It took a while for him to adapt to European football, and he was loaned to Belgian side Beerschot that year. Still, Caicedo soon managed to show all his potential at Brighton, and after just 53 appearances for the club, he has a value on Transfermarkt of €75m but would likely go for much more.
