Robinho Vaz joined Hull City in the last few days of the January transfer window. Panic is growing in Italy about how things have turned out in the Premier League.

The Frenchman initially joined AS Roma from Marseille in January. This came amidst Gian Piero Gasperini’s constant demands for a new attacking signing, as there was chaos in the Italian capital because of a public spat between him and Claudio Ranieri.

This came as a bad omen for Vaz, who played a little over 200 minutes in Serie A in the second half of last season. But the Giallorossi needed outgoings in the summer, allowing Hull City to sign him on an initial loan with an option to buy.

Optimism about this has faded away rather quickly.

Fears player will return

ForzaRoma note that the attacker hasn’t had an easy few months in England. He has made just five appearances for Hull CIty, who paid a loan fee of €2m and inserted an option to buy of €30m.

The outlet believe that all things indicate that a return to Rome is looking ‘increasingly  likely’ for Vaz. He hasn’t found his footing in England, which is causing problems as well.

It is noted that the Giallorossi loanee played for Hull City’s U21s some days ago. This comes as a shock to the outlet, who believe that Vaz isn’t fit enough to feature for Sergej Jakirovic’s side yet. He is yet to fully recover from a calf injury, which continues to trouble him.

Our take: Vaz needs regular football

At Marseille, regular game time brought the best out of the 19-year-old. This raised his stock and attracted interest from several clubs before Roma made their move.

The last few months have been a horror-show and that needs to change. He needs to be central to a club’s plans to return to his best but that isn’t happening at Hull City.

At the same time, the Tigers would know they have an asset in the side. If they can bring the most out of him, Vaz will still be an unpredictable threat in attack. So even now, fitness would be key to bringing things back on track.
