Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is bigger than Tottenham Hotspur, according to analyst Filip Joos.
The journalist appeared as a guest on Friends of Sports podcast, 90 Minutes, relayed by Voetbal Nieuws, where he urged the 37-year-old to take up the job at Spurs.
Kompany joined the Championship side last summer and has already helped them secure a promotion back to the Premier League. His work at Burnley has seen him get linked to Tottenham in recent days.
Cristian Stellini is currently Tottenham’s acting head coach after they sacked Antonio Conte last month, but Spurs are looking to appoint the Italian’s permanent successor and Joos has advised Kompany to quickly move to the north London club.
“Kompany to Tottenham? Go! And even more: he has to let Kane and Son go and start all over again. That squad is so deep right now,” he said.
“He shouldn’t go to Chelsea where he will end up in a machine. There are 98 players walking around and you have to do it with that. Chelsea have also won trophies in recent years.”
During his playing career, Kompany spent over a decade at Manchester City between 2008 and 2019, where he played under Pep Guardiola’s orders for the last three seasons.
Joos believes the Belgian’s spell at the Etihad under Guardiola could benefit Tottenham fight with the best at the top if he were to join the English capital club.
“Kompany is now bigger than Tottenham. If I’m Tottenham and you see Arteta’s work at Arsenal… He’s also from Guardiola’s school, just like Kompany. Doesn’t he have an edge over the rest? We would also understand if he left Burnley for Tottenham,” Joos explained.
