Igor Julio’s departure from Brighton and Hove Albion is taken for granted, but a deal is yet to be struck with Real Sociedad for the Brazilian.
That’s according to AS, who report that there has still been no movement on the defender despite him being left out of Brighton’s latest pre-season game against Las Palmas.
The newspaper states that Brighton consider Julio’s departure as a given and have not put any obstacles in his way when it comes to finding a new team this summer. However, the terms of the transfer are yet to be finalised.
Real Sociedad have agreed on everything with the player, but Brighton want a permanent transfer. The Spanish side are more in favour of a loan deal.
Finding an agreement on that front is what is delaying the defender’s arrival in San Sebastián. AS suggest that a loan with an option to buy could ultimately be the way both parties can reach an agreement.
Real Sociedad would certainly prefer that as they appear to be dragging matters out to avoid paying Brighton a transfer fee this summer, much the same as they did with West Ham and Nayef Aguerd last summer.
