West Brom could be handed the chance to bring Carlos Corberán back to the club on a plate, as things turn sour at Valencia.
Marca, Levante-EMV, Deporte Valenciano and Estadio Deportivo all cover the Valencia manager’s situation. And it could be good news for West Brom if their stances are anything to go by.
Corberán’s situation has taken a turn for the worse after he managed to steady things in November.
The Baggies are on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Ryan Mason today. He leaves West Brom 18th in the Championship table after 13 losses in 26 games this season.
He was appointed in the summer as the long-term replacement for Tony Mowbray, who only last 18 games after Corberán departed in December 2024 after 107 games in charge. The Spaniard was the longest serving West Brom boss since Tony Pulis.
Things have not entirely gone to plan at Valencia recently, and it appears the end may be in sight. Marca report that he is ‘between blind faith and the abyss’ at this moment in time. According to them, the current run of results ‘condemns him’ with Valencia sitting in the bottom three in La Liga.
Levante EMV say similar, stating that Valencia are in ‘total collapse’ at this point. They say Corberán is a ‘questioned coach’ after a year in the job. He is being labelled as the main reason for their current situation.
He is very unpopular at the club but retains the backing of the ownership for now. That, though, could quickly change.
‘Dream to nightmare’ for former West Brom manager

Deporte Valenciano report that the move to Valencia has gone ‘from dream to nightmare’ for the former West Brom coach. He impressed in the second half of last season but now, with Valencia close to relegation, the fans are growing ‘increasingly critical’.
Estadio continue on that line, saying Valencia’s fans have exploded and are calling for Corberán to resign. Around 50 were waiting for the team after the latest defeat, singing directly at Corberán and urging him to go.
The newspaper say Corberán’s numbers, 16 points from 18 games, are pushing him towards the brink.
This situation could bring good news for West Brom, as the club may soon have the opportunity to bring the Spanish coach back to the Hawthorns if things continue as they have at the Mestalla.
