FC Porto fullback Zaidu Sanusi will miss the Champions League clashes against Arsenal, the Portuguese media says.
When the player had a knee injury playing against Estrela Amadora on Saturday, manager Sérgio Conceição made it clear he was likely to be out of the European match, as the situation didn’t seem good.
Now as Record feature a full story on the medical examinations, they reveal that Zaidu is actually out for the rest of this season, as well as a good part of the next one, as his situation will require surgery.
The newspaper highlights the ‘importance’ of this game against Arsenal, which is the main concern Porto have for now.
Zaidu was expected to start against the Gunners, and Conceição now must choose between Wendell and Jorge Sanchez to take the Nigerian’s place. Record point out that Wendell hasn’t been doing well and Sanchez is originally a right-back, so that’s a major concern for the coach.
Another reason Porto wanted the fullback playing versus Arsenal is that there are some Premier League clubs who’d like to sign him, and seeing him in action against Mikel Arteta’s side would be good for the scouting reports. Now even a potential sale should be delayed.
