Aston Villa have taken the lead in the race to sign Rosenborg BK’s Sverre Nypan in the summer window.

Earlier this week, we covered claims from Norway which stated Aston Villa have been the favourite for several weeks. It was also stated the 18-year-old has held talks with Villans director Monchi and also Unai Emery.

Nettavisen backs it up and points out that Aston Villa haven’t found an agreement with the Norwegian club just yet.

They add the Premier League club are working to reach an agreement with Rosenborg to wrap up the deal before the summer.

The outlet also relay comments made by the youngster’s father, Arne Nypan, to another Norwegian outlet, Nidaros. His comments should come as an encouragement for the Birmingham club.

When Nidaros asked Arne what he has been up to, he said: “I am in the process of selling my son. And then I am buying an accounting firm.”

Nidaros makes it clear that he was asked about Sverre before the reports linking him to Aston Villa started to surface online. The father talked about the Villans target as part of the newspaper’s Eastern column.

Arne will spend Easter at a cabin in Oppdal and is unsure whether his son will join the rest of the family.

“No, it’s the family then. The core family, preferably. It’s not that easy when the kids quickly have their own programs. So, I wonder if we’ll only be 3/4 as ‘the little guy’ will meet Vålerenga in Oslo on Easter Monday,” Arne explained.

Aston Villa are favourite and can secure the deal by reaching an agreement with Sverre and Rosenborg.
