Following their escape from relegation, it’s time for Everton to start strengthening their team for the upcoming season.
According to claims from Brazil, the Toffees already have a target in South America. That’s Corinthians’ centre-forward Yuri Alberto.
Goal Brasil writes that Everton got in touch with the striker’s staff to get some information ahead of the summer window.
The Toffees are reportedly ‘evaluating the possibility’ of making a formal offer for the 22-year-old.
The chase, however, seems to be in the initial stages. Because according to Goal, Corinthians were not contacted by Everton and are unaware of the club’s interest in the player.
The Brazilian club did not pay cash to sign Yuri Alberto from Zenit on a permanent deal in January. They made a swap and gave the Russian club 50% of a future move.
That’s why it’s hard to imagine how much they’d demand for the player, whose Transfermarkt value is at €18m.
Yuri Alberto is having a tough season for Corinthians, with five goals and six assists in 25 games, but has shown bigger potential in the past.
