Despite recent rumours saying Arsenal could try to sign Eric Garcia from Barcelona, it doesn’t seem like that transfer is happening in the coming days.
As a response to the English stories, Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo today highlights the small chance the Gunners would have to replace Jurrien Timber with the Spaniard.
The outlet makes it clear that Xavi has no intention of letting Garcia go this summer, and Arsenal are very unlikely to find a deal for that transfer.
Regarding the possibility of a loan deal, Mundo Deportivo explain that Barcelona find it ‘difficult to accept’ that kind of operation so close to the end of the window.
It’s said the only way Garcia could leave the Camp Nou this summer is with an ‘important sale’, and that doesn’t seem to be the case here.
The story should bring an end to a rumour which was never really strong, as the Spaniard was just one of the many defenders linked to Arsenal since Timber’s injury.
With little time to work on new arrivals, the Gunners should focus on less complicated signings.
