Lecce and Celtic are in continued negotiations over Gustaf Lagerbielke and a deal potentially happening this month.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say ‘contacts continue’ between the two sides after the Italian side targeted the defender.
Talks between them were opened yesterday over a potential loan deal, although president Sticchi Damiani has made it clear he won’t be jumping into such a deal without any research being done first.
Indeed, he indicated that he wasn’t keen on any loans at all, with TMW reporting him saying “not so much making impromptu operations, but following our logic, with young and owned players. Except for particular things, so no loans, we are a little against. We have 90% of the players owned.”.
They’re eyeing the defender as a replacement for Radu Dragusin, who is close to sealing a move to Tottenham.
They’re also in contact with Celtic about a move and ‘the next few hours will be decisive’ as they’re set to hold further talks with Brendan Rodger’s side and the player’s entourage.
Lecce have something of an advantage on the latter front as the Celtic man shares an agent with Lecce winger Pontus Almqvist, something they could potentially use to put themselves ahead.
It’s all to be worked out either way, with Genoa also on the scene and seemingly pushing given Dragusin is on the way to Tottenham.
