With everyone and their cousin being linked to AS Roma these days, it’s hard to keep up with the amount of stories currently circulating.
One that did catch our eye a few days ago, however, was that of Nathan Aké’s potential move to the Italian club, as José Mourinho is a fan of what the Dutchman has to offer.
Corriere dello Sport pick up the story on Tuesday, claiming the Portuguese manager ‘really likes’ the Manchester City player, as he looks to improve the squad left to him by Paulo Fonseca in the summer.
It’s explained Pep Guardiola’s side ‘paid so much for him but have used him little’, although they do seem to ignore the fact Aké was injured for a good part of his first season at the Etihad.
While that’s all well and good, sending the former AFC Bournemouth man on a temporary deal to Roma would leave Guardiola with just John Stones as a backup for the aforementioned pair, as Eric García is set to leave on a free, while Philippe Sandler continues to recover from ankle surgery.
Unless someone else comes in, we doubt the Spanish manager will want to leave himself short in the position once again, having mistakenly done so in the past and which is the exact reason why the club went out and bought Aké and Dias.
