Defender Konstantinos Mavropanos has told Arsenal he does not want to be at the club next season if he is not part of their plans.

That’s according to Stuttgart chief Sven Mislintat, who is pushing to keep him in Germany after his successful loan spell this year.

Mavropanos has been with the Bundesliga club since the summer when he left Arsenal for regular first-team football.

After a difficult first half of the season, he’s established himself as a key player at the club, and they are keen to extend his loan deal into a second season.

At first, it appeared that would not happen, but there has been a turn in the last few weeks, with it now felt Arsenal will sanction the deal and let it happen.

Mislintat recently confirmed that was the case, revealing he is in negotiations with his former club, and there is a back and forth at this moment in time.

That is something he has added to in a conversation with BILD, revealing what Mavropanos has had to say on the transfer.

“He says very clearly: If he doesn’t play a role in Arsenal’s planning, he wants to stay with us,” he told the newspaper.

“That’s an awesome statement, and it helps us. A lot has been set up for an extension to work.”
