Jota Silva arrived at Nottingham Forest last summer for a chunk under €10m and with an excellent season behind him. Something of a late developer he’d managed 15 goals and seven assists in 42 matches for Vitória Guimarães the season before.

Given what Nottingham Forest were paying, their squad and other business in the market, it looked to be something of a gamble from the now 25-year-old. He’d made his Portugal debut in March 2025 and was likely handing away a chance of a repeat unless he could upset the odds with the Premier League club.

Jota Silva got 840 minutes of Premier League football for Nottingham Forest last season, returning an impressive three goals and two assists in that allotted time. He turns 26-years-of-age in August and could now be handed a transfer opportunity which would be truly tempting.

Sunday’s edition of Record reports Sporting CP are taking a look. Manager Rui Borges is a fan and would welcome the player’s arrival in Lisbon. There’s been no strong advances made, but Sporting are keen and Jota Silva is presented as being one of the names on their list.

Sporting won Liga Portugal last season, their second in a row, and as such will be in the Champions League again in the coming campaign. A return to Portugal, but to Sporting, could see him being given the chance to shine on a weekly basis and with the World Cup on the horizon there’s an extra motivation.

Jota Silva may well have a huge decision to make in the coming weeks.
