Ipswich Town are potentially two games away from relegation.
They are 12 points behind 17th placed Wolves and with seven games to go, Kieran McKenna’s side play Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle United next.
It now seems as if relegation to the Championship can see Ipswich Town lose an experienced player in the summer.
Marca state that the player in question is Cameron Burgess and the defender is close to joining Spanish side Girona.
The 29-year-old’s current deal with Ipswich Town runs out in the summer and he is keen to try out a new experience in Spain.
Girona are ‘well advanced’ in their move and relegation from the Premier League is likely to all but confirm Burgess’ exit from Portman Road in the summer.
So far this season, the centre-back has played 17 times in all competitions.
Last season in the Championship, he played 39 league games and this suggests that Burgess could have been a key player for Ipswich Town in the second division. They might start to miss his experience, if they go down in the next few weeks.
