Manchester City midfielder Fernando looks close to a move to Galatasaray, and Milliyet have reported if the player decides to join the Turkish giants one of the factors will be his close friendship with Maicon.
Milliyet claim Maicon told the Manchester City midfielder: “Galatasaray is a huge club. I understand the greatness of the club in a very short time. The new rebuilding project is underway at the club and it’s an exciting one. I hope you want to become a part of that. You’ll love it here.”
Fernando is also quoted confirming talks are currently ongoing: “The clubs are negotiating the final things. I am truly aware of that Galatasaray is a huge club. It’s really exciting me to play for Galatasaray after my spells with Manchester City and Porto.”
Galatasaray are reportedly ready to pay €5m for Fernando, but Manchester City are currently insisting on €8m for the Brazilian. The player was left out of Manchester City’s preseason camp, which may indicate he has no future at the Etihad next season.
It seems he isn’t in the plans of Pep Guardiola, and the player will need to find a new club this summer. Fernando made 27 appearances for Manchester City last season, with 15 of those coming in the Premier League.
