Whether a new centre-back is a priority at Chelsea these days is up for debate, but it is an area they are looking into ahead of January.
That’s what Calciomercato are reporting on Thursday, as they cover the situation surrounding Alessandro Buongiorno, currently starring at Torino.
Chelsea have been linked for a little bit now, and it appears they may have a big advantage in all this, at least over Juventus, as the player doesn’t want to ‘betray’ his club by going to the city rivals.
As for Torino’s president, Urbano Cairo, it’s said that his experience has shown him it is often futile to reject big offers, which is why he is ‘ready to give up his jewel’ if the right bid were to come in.
Inter, Juventus and Chelsea are said to those who have ‘enquired the most about him in recent days’, and were all told that Buongiorno would not be sold for ‘less than €35m’.
Therefore, Chelsea know what to do if they want to sign the Italian in the coming weeks, although many would feel a new striker is probably a bit more of a priority.
