Chelsea are showing an interest in Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel and have added him to their ‘wish list’ ahead of the summer.
That’s according to BILD, who say the Blues are looking for an ‘above-average’ replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy.
Reports in England have even stated the latter has been told by Chelsea that he can leave in the summer and BILD now report that Kobel has been put ‘high on the scouting list’ at Stamford Bridge.
Dortmund are desperate to keep the Swiss goalkeeper, who has been one of the best in the Bundesliga this season.
Kobel also feels comfortable at the club, despite interest from Bayern Munich, and at this moment in time wouldn’t be interested in a move to England or Chelsea as he wants to win titles in Dortmund.
He’d also like more responsibility in the dressing room and will push for that, showing this desire by regularly stepping up to speak after games regardless of the result.
This, coupled with his performances on the pitch, has not gone unnoticed by teams around Europe, including Chelsea.
At this moment in time a transfer is not on the cards, though, with Dortmund planning a new contract and salary increase and the player determined to kick on in Germany before thinking about an exit.
