Chelsea will need an ‘immoral offer’ at a ‘dizzying amount’ if they wish to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen before the end of the transfer window.
That’s according to Frankfurter Rundschau, who say the German side are not interested in selling the full-back this late in the window unless they are forced to do so.
Frimpong has been linked with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen for the best part of a year, with his impressive performances in the Bundesliga and Europe earning him plenty of admirers.
Reports this week have indicated that Chelsea are now one of them, as they look to cover for Reece James’ latest injury.
They have him and Malo Gusto as right back cover but with James recently suffering another hamstring injury, there is a concern about a lack of cover in the position.
That’s seen them linked with a move for Frimpong, but Frankfurter Rundschau insist that won’t be happening if Leverkusen have anything to do with it.
According to them, the German side will not give up the player so close to the end of the transfer window and that stance will only change if they receive an ‘immoral offer at a dizzying amount’.
There’s no exact figure put on that, but the point is clear, any club who wants Frimpong now would have to spend a huge amount to get him.
Chelsea have certainly shown a willingness to spend such sums this summer so it can’t be ruled out they’ll do so again, but it appears any efforts to get Frimpong for a low figure would be a wasted effort.
