Borussia Dortmund are now demanding a colossal €65m for Jamie Gittens, after rejecting Chelsea’s €50m offer for the forward.

That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that Dortmund want €65m plus bonuses if they are to allow Gittens to join Chelsea this summer.

The Blues have seemingly turned their attention to the 20-year-old early in this summer window, with two bids already lodged and rejected by Dortmund. The first of these was €35m, which was later upped to €50m.

Reports have suggested that the latter has been rejected and Plettenberg confirms as much. He instead says negotiations are ongoing, with Dortmund responding with a €65m asking price for their man.

Whether that’s a figure Chelsea would be willing to spend, isn’t mentioned. Given it is nearly double their initial bid for Gittens, it seems unlikely.

Indeed, at this point, it may be time for them to start thinking about walking away, with Dortmund clearly not interested in any sale that doesn’t secure them a huge profit on a player who joined their youth set up from Manchester City on a free in September 2020.
