Manchester United’s Antony spent the second half of this season on loan at Real Betis and managed nine goals and five assists from 26 games.

The La Liga club want to extend his loan stay for another season by agreeing fresh terms with the Red Devils.

Two days ago, we covered claims from Spain which stated Real Betis officials will travel to England for a meeting with Manchester United for Antony.

Real Betis CEO Ramón Alarcón and sporting director, Manu Fajardo, returned to Spain on Wednesday. On their arrival at Seville’s São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport, Estadio Deportivo caught up with the duo.

When asked about their meeting with the Premier League club for the winger’s transfer, the Real Betis CEO responded.

“Working, working… It’s still very early. We’re going little by little, as there’s still a lot of market space to be filled. This is very long, and it hasn’t even really begun,” he said.

Alarcón is aware the outcome won’t be imminent, and negotiations could drag on.

There are other clubs like Bayer Leverkusen and Juventus in the picture to sign Antony and Manchester United are prioritising a sale. Estadio point out Ruben Amorim’s side are valuing the Brazil international at €40m.

The 25-year-old has given his approval to Real Betis and has informed the Premier League club that he prioritises joining them.

Estadio state the final outcome will ‘depend, to some extent, on his [Antony’s] ability to resist and exert pressure’. In short, Real Betis want the South American to put pressure on Manchester United and resist approaches from other clubs.
