Karlsruher SC goalkeeper Max Weiß is set to complete a permanent move to Burnley this summer.

That’s according to Sky Deutschland, who report Scott Parker’s side have reached a ‘full agreement’ with the second division German club for the 21-year-old’s transfer.

Burnley are offering Karlsruher a fee of €5m plus bonuses and giving Weiß a contract until 2029.

The German’s medical tests with the Clarets are ‘scheduled for Monday’. Burnley can make his signing official once he clears these examinations and carries out other transfer formalities.

James Trafford was the first-choice stopper for Burnley last season and was instrumental in helping them secure promotion to the Premier League. If he continues at Turf Moor, the 22-year-old Englishman is likely to be their No.1 next season.

The English club have still decided to bet on Weiß, who is likely to be a backup initially. Sky say Burnley are convinced of his qualities and potential to be their starting goalkeeper in the long-term.

Weiß joined Karlsruher’s academy in 2019 and was promoted to their first team in 2022. He was a regular last season, keeping 10 clean sheets and conceding 57 goals in 37 games.
