Celtic have identified IF Brommapojkarna’s Leo Cavallius as a new target, as Martin O’Neill’s search for a goalkeeper continues.
Kasper Schmeichel, who was No.1 last season, has retired and Celtic are yet to sign his replacement.
UD Las Palmas’ Dinko Horkaš has been one option, although that has stalled.
The Spanish club’s president has confirmed he’s ready to sell for €5m. There was confidence the stopper would move to Glasgow, but O’Neill’s side haven’t taken the necessary steps.
Celtic focusing elsewhere
The Scottish club are unlikely to move forward with Dinko Horkaš as they are focusing on Leo Cavallius.
Sweden’s Expressen state Celtic and Parma are keen on signing the 21-year-old this summer.
Last year, he made his first team debut, keeping five clean sheets and conceding 18 goals from 14 matches. This year, he has one clean sheet and has let in 26 goals from 16 matches.
Although the statistics in 2026 aren’t as impressive as last year, the stopper is attracting interest from European clubs.
Celtic ready to advance
The Serie A side are in the process of selling Zion Suzuki to Paris Saint-Germain, and his impending exit has seen them look for a new stopper.
Parma are focusing on the Swede, who is also a target for Martin O’Neill’s side. The report states the two clubs want to buy Leo Cavallius and are ready to bid for him.
The Scottish club will face a tough battle from Parma, who are the hottest candidate in the transfer race.
IF Brommapojkarna value Cavallius highly and will only let him leave if there’s a convincing bid. Expressen haven’t mentioned their request or the fee Celtic or Parma are willing to offer.
The goalkeeper has a contract until December 2028, and Transfermarkt now value him at €5m. A fee around this region may be enough to convince the Swedish club.
