Former Celtic defender Christopher Jullien is today featured by Midi Libre, with a long interview where he mentioned his time in Scotland.

With a teammate of his getting linked to Burnley, the player was asked about British football and his experience there.

Jullien made sure to mention how big Celtic are, despite claiming they wouldn’t compete with the Premier League’s top clubs.

“Léo Leroy recently asked me what Celtic were like. And I compared it to a motorway: all the players are at 80mph, if one stops, goes to the side, no one looks at him. They don’t have time, they only aim for the high level. And again, Celtic are big but they don’t have the calibre of the best teams in the Premier League,” Jullien told Midi Libre.

Jullien joined Celtic on an €8m move from Toulouse back in 2019. In the three years he spent in Glasgow, he made 62 appearances, and even scored ten goals, having an impressive average for a defender.

That hasn’t happened at Montpellier, though, and he was asked why he hasn’t scored any goals since arriving at the French club.

“Every team I played on, I scored! In Dijon, at TFC, at Celtic: I have always performed well and it’s crazy! In my defence, the fact that Kiki, Becir, Maxime don’t score much reassures me (laughing). Lately, we are doing better, with the goal of “Max” , that of Khalil. But it’s not normal that I have no goals!”

While playing for Celtic, he won two Scottish Premiership titles, as well as a Scottish Cup and a League Cup.

The centre-back then left for Montpellier in the summer of 2022, and has been a regular starter there lately. His contract with the French side expires next year.
