Brighton & Hove Albion’s Steven Alzate has been on loan at Standard Liège since the 2022 summer transfer window.

Earlier this month, the 25-year-old returned to The Amex, after the Jupiler Pro League side cut short his loan stay. Standard Liège only wanted to have those players who will be part of their plans next season and that isn’t the case with the midfielder.

Win Sports state Alzate’s future is uncertain because his contract at Brighton will expire at the end of next month and there are ‘no signs’ of a renewal as of now.

The Colombia international has found it difficult to get minutes with the Seagulls after his loan spell at Swindon Town in the 2018/19 season. The report says the situation is unlikely to change for him at Brighton.

Roberto De Zerbi left the Premier League side at the end of the season and they are yet to appoint his successor. Win Sports talks about the possibility of the South American staying at Brighton under their new manager.

They suggest several factors, including instilling confidence in the player, could open the door for his stay, which is only possible if there’s a renewal. A final decision will be made by De Zerbi’s successor.

At the same time, it’s claimed Alzate will also have to make a decision on whether to sign a new deal at Brighton [if offered] or look for new opportunities elsewhere. The report says the ‘next few weeks will be decisive’ to define his future.
