It seems not everyone at Sporting is happy with Youssef Chermiti’s potential transfer to Everton.
Following all the news about the sale, the Portuguese media has now been making many comments on the deal, and some have the feeling that the Lions shouldn’t be letting the player go.
CMTV today had a chat with André Pinotes Batista, who’s a politician and well known for his relationship with Sporting. There he claimed that they’ll see a young star developing at Everton, while he should be kept in Lisbon for longer. The quotes are brought by Leonino.
“It could be a big deal for Everton because Sporting Members and fans, like me, are left with a bittersweet taste.”
“We are happy that the Cristiano Ronaldo Academy makes us earn another 15 million, but we had a lot of hope in Chermiti and, if this deal is confirmed, he will develop elsewhere.”
Batista also pointed out that due to the manager’s insistence in using the player, it’s now the club president who benefits from the sale.
“The player went from six months ago being a stubbornness of Rúben Amorim to being a big deal for Frederico Varandas.”
Reports from the Portuguese media have been claiming that Everton will pay Sporting €15m for the transfer, with the Lions still holding the percentage of a future transfer.
Chermiti only has three goals and two assists in 22 appearances for the Lisbon side. He was still fighting for his place in the team, and now has a big challenge ahead.
