Robin Olsen is set to leave Aston Villa when his contract expires in June, according to Sportbladet.
They state the Aston Villa goalkeeper will join Malmö FF on a free transfer in the summer window.
Last month, the Sweden international stated he hasn’t made a decision on his future after this season.
Sportbladet now claim the 35-year-old has decided to join Malmö after this season. They add Olsen has ‘agreed a longer contract’ to return to his former club on a free transfer.
There’s no mention of the details of the contract and the outlet aren’t clear when Malmö will make the former Everton man’s transfer official.
FC Copenhagen made a lucrative offer earlier this year, but the stopper rejected it in order to finish this season at Aston Villa.
Olsen has been the second choice at Villa Park, behind Emiliano Martínez. He joined the Villans on loan in January 2022, and the transfer was made permanent later that year. The Swede has played 21 games in all competitions for Unai Emery’s side.
The stopper graduated from Malmö’s academy and returned to the club in 2012 before leaving them in 2015. He’s ready to return to the Swedish club for the third spell later this year.
