The Brazilian media today shares more updates on Corinthians’ pursuit for Aston Villa midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
On his YouTube channel Café do Setorista, journalist Samir Carvalho claims the clubs are set to wait a little more before possibly engaging in talks for the move.
The reason for it is that Aston Villa want to hold and see if there will be offers for the player in the January transfer window.
Since they spent €20m to sign him from Barcelona, the priority is to recover part of that money.
In case nothing arrives, then Corinthians should have a chance, as Carvalho highlights that despite the need to wait, that was a good sign for the Brazilian club, as the Villans could have ruled out that move right away and chose not to entertain any talks at all.
It’s well known that the Timão have no condition of buying Coutinho from Aston Villa, so they hope for a loan or a free move instead.
His salary shouldn’t be a problem, as it’s claimed the player wants the transfer and will accept a pay cut.
The 30-year-old is said not to be even looking for offers from European sides, as he’d be fine signing for Corinthians.
