Burnley ‘would like to keep’ loan star Jordan Beyer but need to negotiate with Borussia Monchengladbach after failing to negotiate a purchase clause with the German side.

That’s according to BILD, who cover the ‘BeckenBeyer’ today and a potential permanent switch to Turf Moor.

They explain that a ‘million-dollar deal’ beckons for the centre-back following his performances in the Championship this season.

He’s been with Vincent Kompany’s side since the summer, when he arrived on a season long loan deal as part of the Belgian manager’s overhaul of the squad.

He has been impressing since then, establishing himself as a key player in Burnley’s starting 11 and helping them to the top of the table.

A return to the Premier League appears to ‘be a formality’ and Burnley ‘would like’ to keep the defender after his impressive displays.

The problem is they have ‘no option to buy’ in his current loan deal and so Gladbach therefore have the power in negotiations. As a result, a ‘millions beckon’ for the Bundesliga side.

They’ve been watching his performances closely, with Gladbach manager Daniel Farke recently commenting on the situation.

“The loan is working out exactly as we wanted it to. He has to assert himself in a very physical league,” he is quoted as saying.

“His strengths, including dribbling, come into play with a team like Burnley. This year has been good for him football-wise and in terms of personality development. We are following his development very positively.”

The question of whether they want Beyer back, though, remains as they already have three ‘seasoned’ centre-backs in Ko Itakura, Nico Elvedi and Marvin Friedrich.

That gives Burnley a chance to get their man, but it seems they will have to pay a figure in the millions to do so.
