This week, reports from the Spanish media claimed that Arsenal are one of the clubs who are interested in Sporting defender Gonçalo Inácio.
It was said that the Gunners are competing with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle United for the signing, with the Lions only willing to let him go if his €45m release clause is triggered.
It turns out that today, Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã features a story that only highlights Arsenal in this race, and they actually bring good news regarding Inácio’s price.
The report confirms that Sporting want €45m to let the defender leave, but it’s said that the bonuses can be included in that price, meaning the Gunners could, for example, offer €35m up front plus €10m in add-ons.
Correio da Manhã writes that Inácio is ‘ready to take the leap to the Premier League’, and Sporting are willing to sell, especially as there are no talks for a new contract so far.
So in case Arsenal are really interested, this sounds like a good timing to make a move and see what happens.
