On summer transfer deadline day, Scott McTominay left Manchester United and completed a permanent move to Napoli.
The midfielder climbed up through the ranks of the Red Devils’ youth system and made his way into their first team in 2017. He scored 10 goals for Manchester United last season and was their third top scorer, behind Rasmus Højlund and Bruno Fernandes.
McTominay had less than a year left on his deal at Old Trafford and Manchester United cashed in from his sale in August. This decision hasn’t gone down well with former West Ham United star Paolo Di Canio.
He made his feelings clear during a chat with Il Mattino, with his typically angry words relayed by CalcioNapoli24.
On October 2nd, Italian journalist Riccardo Trevisani criticised Manchester United for not retaining McTominay.
The former Manchester United man has excelled under Antonio Conte at the Naples club, scoring two goals and managing one assist from five games. Last month, Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna expressed his delight at having signed the player.
