Galatasaray are continuing their big summer spending effort with a move for Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gündoğan.

That’s according to journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, who reports that the Manchester City man is keen on moving to the Turkish club.

Gündoğan may find himself down the pecking order at Manchester City next season, with Tijani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki arriving this summer to bolster a midfield already packed with talent.

Manchester City appear to be looking to the future and that could see the 34-year-old, whose second spell at the Etihad has not quite lived up to his first one, move on.

It appears Galatasaray want to take advantage of that uncertainty and have now made their move for the veteran. Sabuncuoğlu reports that they are trying to complete a transfer for the midfielder, and really pushing to get him.

They have received encouragement too, with Gündoğan making it clear that he’d be interested in the move to Turkey. There is also an offer from Saudia Arabia, but Galatasaray are believed to be one step ahead of them at this moment in time.

It all depends on Gündoğan and Manchester City, but Galatasaray are making efforts to sign the midfielder, nonetheless.
