Celtic’s Carl Starfelt is expected to make a switch to Celta Vigo and Brendan Rodgers’ side have identified IF Elfsborg’s Gustaf Lagerbielke as a target to replace his compatriot at Celtic Park.
The 23-year-old defender made 15 appearances for the Swedish club this year and his form has not gone unnoticed. That’s according to Expressen, who say Elfsborg risk losing one of their standout players.
Elfsborg are aware of Celtic’s interest in Lagerbielkeas as it’s claimed they have already received a bid of SEK 40m [€3.4m] from the Glasgow club. The Sweden international is set to replace the 28-year-old at Celtic Park.
The report adds Starfelt’s agent Blash Hosseini was at Elfsborg’s stadium last weekend, to try and work out a deal to take Lagerbielke to Celtic. It’s worth noting Hosseini doesn’t manage the latter.
Expressen further state Celtic and the Swedish club have been negotiating over a deal for the centre-back for the past few days.
If there’s an agreement for Lagerbielke’s sale to Celtic, the website states it will be a club-record sale for Elfsborg, surpassing the SEK 35m [€3m] they received when they sold Emir Bajrami to FC Twente in 2010.
